Sailing… because one renovation isn’t enough, one renovation is for quitters

We recently had our new (to us) dock moved to our lake front lot from its previous owners.

New dock. The pontoon is not ours it was used along with another one to move the dock across the lake.

Along with that purchase we acquired a Catalina 25 sailboat that needs a lot of renovation.

Rest Assured. We are really excited about fixing this up and learning how to sail.

In the meantime, my hubby was speaking with the previous owners of our cabin (who we have developed a great relationship with) and their mutual interest in sailing came up. At the end of the conversation, they generously offered us two Optimist Pram sailing dingies that were no longer getting used at their home. They even sent us this book so we could read about and learn how to operate these boats for our boys. So thoughtful!

Today our little man got to test it out for the first time.

Hubby went with him for this first journey.
Little man is so excited and we can’t wait to fix up the other little boat as well so the boys can go out together.

If you are interested in our sailboat renovation stay tuned. As soon as we finish the main house renovations it will be our next project. In the meantime, here are the “before” pictures. We have pumped out the water since these pictures. It was not properly covered and rain got in.
